For thousands of visitors a year, a vacation at Tradewinds resort is perfect and without problems. But, like any large hotel, accidents happen. When the accident is due to the negligence of another, that’s where a Tradewinds Resort Accident Attorney can help.

Our office is located only a few miles away from Tradewinds Resort and we specialize in accidents that occur there and throughout the beaches of Pinellas County, Florida. We are here to be a guide through the inconvenience and lasting repercussions of a ruined vacation and long lasting injuries.

If you have stayed at the resort, you have noticed the sheer size of the property and the number of guests. It is a massive task to keep guests safe. You also might have noticed the age of some of the employees, especially at the beach. Almost every employee on the beach is very young and tasked with significant safety duties. These young people are in charge of patrolling the beach, ensuring that no one drowns, that the cabanas are safe, picking up the towels, etc. Some of these young people are driving ATVs on the beach or jet skis. That is a lot of responsibility to give to anyone, much less a young employee.

About Tradewinds Island Resorts on St. Pete Beach

Tradewinds Resort is a sprawling beachfront property on St. Pete Beach. It is the largest property in the area. The main resort is called Island Grand Beach Resort. There are options to stay as a regular guest or purchase a timeshare through Bluegreen vacations. There are many dining options, bars, and activities. There are multiple pools, a winding river, mini golf, and of course, all of the water activities at the beach. Some of the water activities include a massive four person slide, paddleboarding, and an obstacle course on the water.

The smaller resort is called Rumfish Beach Resort. It is a bit of a walk to get there from the Island Grand. You must walk past the Coral Reef Beach Resort and the Alden Suites. Rumfish Resort has a small pool that is always packed with people, less beachfront, and a small beach bar. Near Gulf Blvd is the jewel of the property, RumFish Grill. It has a large gift shop, bar and restaurant complete with an amazing aquarium.

Tradewinds has also purchased the Alden Suites, so it will be interesting to see what is done to incorporate that property. As of the time of this article, a zip line is in the back of the Alden Suites that runs all the way to the beach. It is available for all of the guests at Tradewinds Resort.

    Common Accidents

With all of the aforementioned buildings, activities, and people, accidents are bound to happen. If you have stayed at the hotels, you will likely have observed the age of the buildings and the constant repairs that are needed to run the property. The salt water takes a toll on everything on St. Pete Beach and the Tradewinds is no exception.

Tradewinds has a duty to its guests to maintain the entire property in a safe manner and/or to warn you of dangerous conditions. When this does not happen and you are injured at Tradewinds Resorts, you may have a claim.

Some Possible Accidents at Tradewinds Are:

    • Defective elevators
    • Wet surfaces
    • Broken beach accessories
    • Damaged slides/defective inflatables
    • Failure to supervise guests
    • Failure to warn guests of hazards
    • Pool accidents
    • Injuries to children

Steps to Take After an Accident at Tradewinds Resort

    1. Make an Accident Report

The most important thing that you can do at the time of the accident is to notify Tradewinds of the incident. There are employees and security everywhere, so make sure that they know. You will need to speak to some type of supervisor, don’t just trust that the low level employee will know what to do. While you are not entitled to the incident report itself, they should give you the report #.

    2. Take Pictures

Taking pictures of the accident scene is vital to proving your claim. If you slipped, make sure someone takes a picture of the floor or the employee mopping up the floor after. If there was a defect that injured you, get a picture of it. In these types of accidents, the defense will always try to blame you, so protect yourself.

    3. Get Witness Information

If there were other guests or witnesses around, please get their contact information. Getting their name or room number is not enough. Please get their phone number and email, if possible. We will need to be able to contact them during our claim to verify what happened. If we have a friendly witness, we will want the insurance company to speak to them during their investigation.

    4. Seek Emergency Medical Attention

Do not wait until you return to your home to see a doctor. This type of delay in treatment will damage any claim that you have. If you are hurt, go to an urgent care or to the hospital. Palms of Pasadena is located about 5 minutes from Tradewinds Resort and is where most of our clients go. If you have a child who is seriously injured, then we recommend that they go to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. This is a fantastic hospital for children and is only about 15 minutes away.

    5. Should I Hire a Lawyer Near Tradewinds Resort or One From Home?

Jurisdiction for your injury claim will be in Pinellas County, Florida, not your home. So, you should hire a local lawyer. Even though you may already have a lawyer back home, your claim will be here. It makes no sense to hire a lawyer for a claim that is here. It is never a problem for us that you might not live here. You might have received some medical treatment while you were here, but then we simply continue that treatment once you go back home. Also, since the inception of Zoom, we can handle almost everything in your case remotely from where you live. We are used to dealing with these types of claims because there are so many visitors and tourists to our area.

How Much Does a Personal Injury Attorney Charge?

All Florida personal injury attorneys charge the same. Our fee is 33% of the money that we recover for you. This is called a contingency agreement. This money is paid by the insurance company for Tradewinds Resort. There are also costs. We pay for those costs and then get reimbursed out of the settlement. Costs are usually minimal as long as the case does not go to a lawsuit. Some examples of costs are for sending certified mail and getting copies of medical records and bills.

The best part about the arrangement for our clients is that if we do not recover any money, you do not owe us anything. This makes the hiring of a good lawyer no risk to you.
